Watch the video, here.
The Cliff notes:
1. Add content to your community (can be a listing, a product, a review or even, as in this example, a simple curated post)
2. (Optional) Ping the person, product, program or business you added on social media. (I didn't do that with todays example - this guy found the post himself)
3. Let them Say it For You. There is an old adage in the direct response marketing business when it comes to testimonials and product/platform endorsements - "Let them say it for you". I tend to ignore most of the old adages in the direct response marketing business, mostly because they're written by guys with bad toupes and polyester suits, with strange fascinations for handle bar mustaches - which is a bad look, unless you're Tom Selleck, you live in Hawaii, have a red Ferrari and it's still 1985.
But this one works like magic - especially for these style sites. If you reference, link to or CREATE a story, a news event, a public review or some sort of complimentary content about one of your professional peers, niche neighbors or local establishments, they WILL notice (you can ping them in step #2 which almost guarantees they will) and they WILL drive oodles of free traffic your way as a result.
I've been writing about this particular approach for years - and it still works as well today - as it did the first one of these sites I built years ago.....in my boxer shorts, sitting in a spare bedroom of my house. (actually, come to think of it, that pretty much hasn't changed either)
